ENG 203: AMERICAN LITERATURE -- CLASS ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29th - Wednesday, October 28, 2009

I have secured a substitute for tomorrow's class. I expect that you will treat him with at least as much respect and decorum as you would have treated me. He knows what you have been reading and what you are reading for tomorrow.

I have also told him that you will need to sign in on a sheet I have provided for him for you to be marked as "present".

For Tuesday, November 3, we will do some review of Whitman's poetry, and I would like you to read the first half of Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay "American Scholar".

Good luck with the mid-term exam. I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Peace

Scott Ash
