Professor Bloomfield received his B.A. and M.S. degrees from Long Island University - C.W. Post campus where he specialized in the study of gang culture and society. He completed his thesis entitled "The Threat of Street Gangs on Long Island", which focused on the gang problem and it's growth throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Professor Bloomfield is currently employed as a federal law enforcement officer with the United States Probation & Parole Department in the Eastern District of New York where he is assigned to the Long Island Supervision Division. He is presently assigned to high risk neighborhoods in Suffolk County focusing on narcotics, firearms and gang related offenses. Additionally, he is serving on a specialized task force through the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative.
