A Word for My Students

I believe that college is an essential preparation for happy, active, responsible adult living. Toward these ends, I am particularly interested in helping students realize that they must begin to accept responsibility for their decisions and their actions while in college. In short, this means students are expected to take their academic commitments quite seriously -- show up for classes, participate in class discussions, show respect for their professors and fellow students, follow course instructions and guidelines, submit all of their assignments, and submit them on time.

It is of course expected that each assignment is a reflection of the best work a student is capable of doing. It is assumed that each assigment is prepared carefully and revised as many times as necessary so that fundamentally error free assignments are always submitted. Each student is capable of doing all of these things. However, for a student to do them, a student must want to do them. It is assumed that for college students, study and learning are their first priorities.

If You Have To Contact Me!

The best way to contact me is via e-mail or telephone. My e-mail address is William.Williams@ncc.edu and my direct office telephone number is 1-516-572-9817. My scheduled office hours change from semester to semester, so it is best to call me in advance and make an appointment if you want to see me in person. (Another option, of course, is to speak to me before a class begins.) The advantages of using e-mail and/or the telephone is that you can be quite specific about any question you may have. (This is especially true for e-mail.)
